Wilcosky Forum is a minimal forum hosted at wilcosky.com which is Billy Wilcosky's personal website.
The forum software, NoNonsense Forum, was graciously created by Kroc (https://github.com/Kroc/NoNonsenseForum) and all forum data is stored in RSS feeds versus a database. This means that you can add this forum software to any basic web server with PHP support and it'll work right away without having to set up a database. Instead of having a complex user management system you just use the same name and password every time you post to keep the same name.
It's literally NO NONSENSE.
Plus, it promotes a unique way to use RSS which has been under attack for a long time now. Some people get defensive if you say RSS is dying because they'll say it's still around and many personal websites still have RSS feeds (thanks to WordPress). But browsers and social media sites stopped pushing it. This hurt the RSS movement greatly.
RSS was/is almost like the fediverse before the fediverse. Now there are too many protocols and everything has become overly complex.
This version of Kroc's forum software for now will be called Zombie. Because it is Kroc's latest version of the software but I adjusted some PHP code so that it works with PHP 8.x. I also added a built in search page (the original software uses Google search).
I may or may not make any other changes. Like Kroc seems to be, I'm very busy and only mess around with things like this in short bursts.
Besides Wilcosky Forum being here so that I could mess around with NoNonsense Forum, this is also here in case someone ever wants to say hello to me publicly, or ask a question about my music, art, or other coding adventures found at https://wilcosky.com.
