Let’s Blog Again (Scrum Time)

I’m going to start blogging again. I did in the past, but for whatever reason I decided to delete the posts and instead use this website as a way to simply link to projects/art, versus treating it like a traditional blog.

Today as I started to look into what a Scrum Master does I decided I should start blogging again because typing thoughts out help me to learn faster. Sure, I could do this privately. But, sharing is caring!

I’m at a point in my life where I’m trying to figure out what’s next. There are things I do (music, coding, art) that I enjoy, and will always do, but they don’t bring in money to the pay bills. So, besides my creative hobbies I feel like I need to specialize and get certified in something new. Something that organizations might seek out from time to time.

What about coding? Well, being a web developer is fun but the market is saturated and I’m not a classically trained (no related degree) developer. Will I accept a job related to web development or web content? Of course! But, I also want/need to specialize in something else. The job market is fierce.

What about recruiting? Yes, if you know me you know I was an employment recruiter, recruiting manager, and then a recruiting operations manager. But like coding, the recruiting job market is saturated.

What about firefighting? I applied a couple of days ago. We’ll see where that goes, if anywhere.

Besides all of that stuff, my wife Allison the other day asked, “What about becoming a Scrum Master?”

This morning I started to read up on it and I like Scrum Theory a lot. And so begins my journey to potentially becoming a Scrum Master.

To start, I’m going to finish reading the creators’ short PDF guide about what Scrum is and keep learning and practicing from there. The end goal will be to pay for the certification, take the test, and be able to officially say that I’m a certified Scrum Master.

So, what is a Scrum Master?
